Janet Snell-Bergeon, Ph.D., MPH is a Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Colorado School of Medicine.  She completed a Master of Public Health (MPH) at the Columbia University School of Public Health, and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Epidemiology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. 

Dr. Snell-Bergeon is the Director of the Clinical Epidemiology Division at the Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes.  She is an expert in type 1 diabetes epidemiology and complications, and has an interest in maternal and child health within type 1 diabetes.

Florence (Flo) Brown is a Senior Staff Physician at the Joslin Diabetes Center and Co-Director of the Joslin and BIDMC Diabetes in Pregnancy Program. She completed medical school at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. She trained in Endocrinology at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston.

 

Dr. Brown is an author of the Joslin Pregnancy Guidelines. She sees general adult diabetes patients in her practice but her focus is on the management of gestational diabetes and preexisting diabetes in pregnancy where she enjoys making sense of the many controversies. A focus of her research is on factors that affect fetal growth and birth weight in the offspring of women with type 1 diabetes.

Carol Levy, MD, CDE

Carol  J. Levy, MD, CDE  is a Professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Bone Disease, and a Professor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Science. She is a board-certified Endocrinologist and Certified Diabetes Educator.

Dr. Levy is the Director of the Mount Sinai Diabetes Center and Type 1 Diabetes Clinical Research. She is an expert in type 1 diabetes and diabetes in pregnancy as well as general endocrinology. She has over 20 years of experience managing patients with these conditions.

Elizabeth Buschur, MD

Associate Professor of Internal Medicine

Dr. Buschur is an Associate Professor in the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio.  She completed her MD at the University of Texas Medical School in San Antonio in 2008.  She then completed her residency at the University of Michigan in Internal Residency in 2011.  In 2013 she completed a Fellowship in Metabolism, Endocrinology and Diabetes from the University of Michigan.  In 2014 she completed a fellowship in Women’s Health from the University of Michigan.  

 

Her major interests include diabetes in pregnancy, thyroid disease in pregnancy, transitions of care among young adults with diabetes, general endocrinology, and women’s health.

Anna M. Strahm PhD

Assistant Scientist, Sanford Research,

Assistant Professor, Sanford School of Medicine: OBGYN & Pediatrics, University of South Dakota

Dr. Anna Strahm is an Assistant Scientist at Sanford Research who specializes in psychophysiology during pregnancy, with special attention to blood glucose regulation. Dr. Strahm’s passion for research in human reproduction and health outcomes began in 2013 and has included projects examining interactions between stress and health to discern the pathways by which stress affects health, with emphasis on reproductive health and health disparities. She earned her Health Psychology PhD from North Dakota State University in 2020 before working on a NIDCR T32 at The Ohio State University.

Since 2022, Dr. Strahm has enjoyed leading research in psychophysiology during pregnancy across the Sanford Health service area, with lab space in Sioux Falls, SD, and Fargo, ND. She provides mentorship to University of South Dakota students as faculty in the Sanford School of Medicine Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and the Department of Pediatrics. Additionally, she supervises research mentorships and internships to students at other regional universities. It is the overall goal of Dr. Strahm 's research program to improve the experience of pregnancy and postpartum, with better health and developmental outcomes for families.
