Who is eligible?
Families expecting a baby who has a mother, father or sibling with type 1 diabetes
We are enrolling pregnant women in the first or second trimester of pregnancy (up to 24 weeks gestation) who have type 1 diabetes themselves (T1D) or where the biological father or a full sibling of the offspring has T1D.
Inclusion criteria for pregnant women are shown in the table below. Biological fathers of the pregnancies will also be invited to participate, as understanding how the father’s health and genetics affect the risk of T1D in the offspring is important. The offspring of the pregnant woman will be enrolled at birth and will be followed for the development of islet autoantibodies up to 6 years of age.
If you would like to contact the other sites for possible enrollment in their areas, then see the Study Locations page. If there is no study site in your area, please contact us about the potential to enroll remotely.
